EastEnders airs Lauren Branning’s exit after one more appearance from Tanya

EastEnders showed Lauren Branning’s final scenes tonight (February 16) as she decided to leave Walford – without her boyfriend Josh Hemmings.

Jo Joyner reprised her role as Tanya one more time for Lauren’s last episode, which saw them face the harrowing experience of Abi’s funeral.

As Lauren and Tanya prepared to say their final goodbyes, a question mark still loomed over Max – who had been ordered to stay away from the service.

To everyone’s surprise, Max actually did as he was told for once, deciding to spend time with Abi’s baby daughter instead.

Max did get to say his own private goodbyes after the service ended, when he also shared a heartfelt moment with Lauren – who told him she needed to leave Walford.

Taking Whitney’s earlier advice, Lauren then decided to ditch her plans to move to Scotland with Josh and instead chose to depart on her own for a fresh start.

The final moments of the episode saw Lauren walk away from the church with her son Louie, vowing to live her life to the full for the sake of Abi.

Fans had been aware that Jacqueline Jossa was leaving her role as Lauren at some point this month, but the date and nature of her exit weren’t revealed until transmission.

Jacqueline took over the role of Lauren in 2010. Before that, the character had been played by Madeline Duggan since 2006.
